Résonance Imagerie takes over medical imaging centre Paris Convention

Centre d'imagerie médicale

Résonance Imagerie Group, a medical imaging specialist, is strengthening its presence in Paris by acquiring the Paris Convention Medical Imaging Centre, located in the 15th arrondissement. This move is part of the group’s expansion strategy, initiated in 2022. AURIS Finance, a consultancy specialising in mergers and acquisitions, provides an explanation and analysis.

Founded in 2011, Résonance Imagerie brings together 110 associated radiologists and almost 600 employees. The group has a fleet of nearly 60 pieces of heavy equipment, such as MRIs and scanners, spread across 43 centres in the Paris region and surrounding areas. It is acquiring the Paris Convention medical imaging centre, located in the 15th arrondissement of Paris. The Centre d’Imagerie Médicale Paris Convention stands out for its comprehensive medical imaging expertise, ranging from ultrasound and CT scans to X-ray, Doppler and ultrasound-guided breast microbiopsy.

Acquisitions and LBOs

This strategic acquisition, which follows the recent purchase of the Centre d’Imagerie Médicale du Grand Pavois in the 15th arrondissement, will allow Résonance Imagerie to consolidate its position in the heart of Paris and pursue a long-term growth strategy in this area. The group’s operations extend beyond the Île-de-France region, with a presence in the Centre Val de Loire, Hauts de France and Normandy. To support its ambitious growth vision, Résonance Imagerie carried out an LBO in 2022 with Andera MidCap, Ardian Private Debt and Five Arrows Debt Partners, enabling it to successfully complete new acquisitions. This significant transaction, primarily structured around a unitranche debt arranged by Ardian Private Debt, maintains the majority ownership of the entity by the associated doctors.

Increasing the sector’s reliance on finance

There is a strong trend towards concentration in the radiology sector, and the presence of investment funds alongside Groupe Résonance Imagerie is particularly welcome. According to an analysis carried out by Xerfi in February 2025, ‘the radiology sector is undergoing accelerated financialisation, similar to that seen in medical biology and veterinary care’. This is driven by three fundamentals: the market’s strong growth potential, its high level of profitability, and its fragmented offering, which leaves plenty of room for takeover opportunities. Major investors such as Ardian, Eurazeo and Bpifrance have recently taken stakes in medical imaging groups such as Simago, Résonance Imagerie and Imapôle.

Setting up a network

In the current climate of tightened healthcare spending, radiology centres find themselves at a critical turning point in their strategic development. Health centres are forming networks to optimise costs while continuing to invest in cutting-edge equipment and artificial intelligence-based solutions. Since the start of 2025, the sector has seen a number of significant mergers. Notably, Groupe Radiologie Paris Ouest has merged with Imagerie Cardinet, a preeminent medical imaging group in the Paris region, while Biopole has joined forces with Ouest Biologie, an independent network of laboratories based in Brittany and Normandy.
