Healthcare Holding Schweiz is methodically pursuing its consolidation strategy in Switzerland’s medical technology and healthcare products sector. The acquisition of Compet Medical, a supplier of harm reduction products for more than 30 years, illustrates the approach of a platform building its portfolio step by step, focusing on niches with strong societal and institutional value.

Healthcare Holding Schweiz AG has announced the acquisition of Compet Medical AG, headquartered in Schindellegi, in the canton of Schwyz.
For more than 30 years, Compet Medical has supplied professional organisations, public institutions, counselling centres and other organisations with products for safe and hygienic use in low-threshold care services. Its range includes single-use sterile products, personalised prevention kits, and protection, hygiene and accessory products. The company operates warehouses in Näfels, in the canton of Glarus, for the Swiss market, and in Konstanz, Germany, for the European market. Its client base spans Switzerland, Germany, Austria and other European markets.
A build-up platform in Swiss institutional healthcare
Healthcare Holding Schweiz is a Buy, Build & Technologize platform, and a leading player in medical technology, healthcare products and medical services in Switzerland. Based in Baar, the company is pursuing an ambitious growth strategy through acquisitions in business succession situations, through strategic partnerships, and through organic growth. It has been led since 2023 by Fabio Fagagnini, with strategic oversight provided by Fabian Kröher and Florian Brickenstein, the two partners of Winterberg Advisory, through their seats on the board of directors.
An acquisition in a segment of strong societal importance
What makes Compet Medical particularly attractive for Healthcare Holding Schweiz is its positioning in a low-profile but structurally important segment: harm reduction in low-threshold care services. These are the services put in place to support people struggling with substance dependence under hygienic and safe conditions, while preventing the transmission of infectious diseases. The field is benefiting from growing institutional support within European public health policies.
Fabio Fagagnini, CEO of Healthcare Holding Schweiz, confirms the strategic rationale: “With Compet Medical, we are broadening our portfolio with a company active in a demanding area that carries significant societal importance. Harm reduction is part of a modern, pragmatic and responsible health policy. For Healthcare Holding Schweiz, this is a further step towards integrated care: we want to provide support where quality, availability and professional structures are essential for individuals, institutions and the healthcare system.”
Andreas Baumgartner, CEO of Compet Medical, confirms the alignment: “Our clients rely on reliability, flexibility and a supply model that works day in, day out. In Healthcare Holding Schweiz we have found a partner who understands our business, takes a long-term view and will continue to develop Compet Medical with genuine entrepreneurial drive.”
A well-managed business succession, a model worth noting
The deal also illustrates a common scenario in the German-speaking Mittelstand: the handover of an SME whose founder or long-standing executive is looking for a buyer able to ensure operational continuity while bringing the resources needed for further development. Healthcare Holding Schweiz has made precisely this type of situation its area of focus, targeting companies with a solid client base, recognised technical expertise and a presence in stable, recurring institutional markets.
