A new milestone for the Montpellier-based MedTech company. DiappyMed, a specialist in digital therapies for diabetes, is scaling up its operations. The start-up has successfully completed a €5 million seed funding round led by Ventech and has also announced a strategic partnership with Sanofi. An analysis by the experts at AURIS Finance, a leading M&A advisory firm.

Thanks to this €5 million fundraising round led by Ventech, alongside AFI Ventures, Sofilaro and IRDI Capital Investissement, DiappyMed reaches a new stage in its development.

This initial seed round will enable DiappyMed to:

  • Strengthen its R&D teams and those dedicated to patient support
  • Structure its market access strategy
  • Accelerate the deployment of EkiYou, its application designed to calculate the appropriate insulin dose based on meals, physical activity and blood glucose levels

A major partnership with Sanofi

Alongside this fundraising, DiappyMed has entered into a strategic partnership with Sanofi, a global leader in diabetes care. This collaboration aims to support the large-scale rollout of EkiYou among healthcare professionals and people living with diabetes, leveraging in particular Sanofi’s innovation ecosystem and its Future4care accelerator.

For the MedTech company, this partnership represents a key lever in terms of credibility, market access and distribution—especially valuable at a stage where the solution has not yet been widely adopted.

The combination of this funding round and strategic partnership will support DiappyMed’s ambitions, with the company targeting reimbursement of its digital therapy by the French national health insurance system as early as 2026.

A strong growth trajectory

Founded in 2021, DiappyMed originates from research initiated in 2016 at the Montpellier University Hospital. The start-up has developed a patient-centric approach focused on personalised diabetes treatment.

Its solution, EkiYou, is based on mobile digital tools enabling insulin dose adjustments for patients using injection pens. It primarily targets insulin-dependent patients treated via injection pens, representing around two-thirds of the 500,000 people affected by diabetes in France.

The application, certified as a medical device and bearing CE marking, leverages artificial intelligence to tailor insulin doses to individual patient needs, taking into account multiple real-life parameters.

DiappyMed has also developed EkiYou Carbs, a carbohydrate-counting application co-developed with Montpellier University Hospital and awarded in 2023 for its contribution to digital health.

A priority investment segment

The development of this digital health solution reflects a broader structural trend: the rapid rise of digital medical devices at the intersection of healthcare, data and software.

This transaction comes at a pivotal time, as digital health is becoming a priority investment focus for both specialised and generalist funds.

DiappyMed’s fundraising, combined with a high-profile industrial partnership, illustrates the evolving landscape for MedTech companies: scaling innovation now requires both a solid capital strategy and strong industrial partnerships. However, investor interest remains closely tied to market access. In this respect, the prospect of future reimbursement by national health insurance represents a significant value driver.
