Software solutions Orthalis and Dentalsoft are now under the ownership of Extens. This transaction leads to the creation of SignalSoft Développement, a new player in orthodontic software.

The experts at AURIS Finance, a financial advisory firm specializing in mergers and acquisitions, analyze this new market move.

Under the leadership of Extens, Orthalis and Dentalsoft are merging to form SignalSoft, a new company specializing in software solutions for orthodontists.

Supported by Bpifrance and BNP Paribas, Extens was already a shareholder in Orthalis. The integration of Dentalsoft is being carried out through this platform. The newly formed entity combines the expertise, client bases, and technologies of both companies within a single structure.

The creation of SignalSoft aims to accelerate the development of software solutions dedicated to specialists in the dental sector. By combining complementary technologies and expertise, the new structure also aims to strengthen innovation, improve interoperability between tools used by practitioners, and provide orthodontic professionals with increasingly efficient digital environments designed to streamline workflows, enhance patient care, and support the long-term digital transformation of dental practices across Europe.

An ambitious industrial project

With the support of Extens, SignalSoft will be able to intensify its investments in order to provide orthodontists with software solutions tailored to their needs and to the evolution of their practices.

The new entity also aims to expand beyond France and deploy its offering across other European countries in the coming years.

In this context, Extens does not rule out pursuing additional international acquisition opportunities.

A reference player

This transaction will enable SignalSoft to establish itself as a leading player in its market,” commented Charles Bourgain, Partner at Extens, following the merger.

Orthalis, which claims to be the leading orthodontic software in France, was founded around twenty years ago. Today, the platform serves nearly 1,500 active clients.

Its flagship software, Orthalis, manages the entire operational workflow of dental practices: appointment scheduling, billing and payment follow-ups, inventory management, medical questionnaires and patient records.

Four specialized modules complement the offering:

  • Intelligent digital library
  • Cephalometric analysis
  • Omni-practice management
  • Diagnosis of respiratory disorders and monitoring of oral breathing

A sector seeking all-in-one solutions

Orthodontic practices, long equipped with fragmented tools, are now looking for integrated software solutions capable of centralizing their entire activity.

Managing a practice today increasingly resembles running a small business. Appointment scheduling, patient file management, billing, regulatory compliance and administrative tasks all require powerful and interconnected tools.

In this context, practitioners favor secure platforms that bring together all functions within a single interface. SignalSoft directly addresses this market evolution.

Strong growth potential

The healthcare software market is experiencing sustained growth, notably driven by the integration of new technologies such as artificial intelligence.

This technological evolution encourages the emergence of specialized players capable of delivering solutions tailored to the specific needs of each medical specialty.

However, to support this transformation, software publishers must have access to significant financial resources. In this context, specialized investment funds play a key role.

Our experts by your side

The transaction led by Extens illustrates the current consolidation trend within the healthcare software sector. Specialized investors are seeking to structure companies capable of reaching critical scale and establishing themselves in high-value niche markets.

At the same time, software publishers increasingly rely on strong financial partners to accelerate their growth.

In this context, industrial partnerships and build-up strategies are expected to continue multiplying in the coming years, particularly in the healthcare sector.
