The fintech 3Pay, which specialises in the payment of healthcare costs, is acquiring MoneyTrack, a healthcare third-party payment platform founded in 2018. The transaction coincides with a new round of financing for 3Pay from its lead investors: Truffle Capital, Accurafy and Side Angels. It brings together two young French companies focused on the same issue: enabling policyholders to pay for their care without paying upfront.
Analysis by the experts at Auris Finance, M&A and financial engineering advisory firm.
The combination pairs an acquisition with a fundraising. 3Pay is financing its development with the investors who already support it and, in the same move, integrating a player from its own market.
The structure of the transaction is unusual. Truffle Capital, which is taking part in 3Pay’s financing, also co-founded MoneyTrack. The fund thus finds itself on both sides of the combination: investor in the acquirer and co-founder of the company being acquired.
3Pay, a payment card dedicated to healthcare costs
Founded in 2020 and based in the Lyon area, 3Pay has developed a payment solution reserved for healthcare costs. Policyholders have an account, a payment card and a mobile app that tracks their transactions in real time.
The process is simple. Policyholders present their card or app at the healthcare professional’s payment terminal. 3Pay advances the necessary funds and pays the practitioner instantly. Policyholders can then settle their out-of-pocket costs in a single payment at the end of the month, or spread them over several instalments. The solution can be used with all healthcare professionals in France.
MoneyTrack, a third-party payment platform for insurers
Founded in 2018, MoneyTrack has developed a model geared towards insurance organisations. Its platform enables health insurers to offer their policyholders exemption from paying upfront, through a payment tool, an entitlements management platform and payment commitments to healthcare professionals.
The company had itself carried out an external growth transaction by acquiring Progexia, a young Marseille-based company specialising in the digitalisation of supplementary health insurers. Its manager explained at the time that Progexia knew how to connect to the supplementary health insurance ecosystem, whereas MoneyTrack struggled to plug into insurers’ systems.
Two approaches to upfront payment combined
The combination brings together two models. 3Pay contributes a payment solution aimed at the policyholder, based on a dedicated card. MoneyTrack contributes a platform connected to insurance organisations, which manages policyholders’ entitlements and payment commitments.
A market where several healthcare payment solutions coexist
Several payment solutions reserved for healthcare are now available to policyholders. Crédit Mutuel and CIC, for example, offer the Avance Santé card, a payment card dedicated to healthcare, provided at no extra cost with most of their health insurance policies. It operates on a deferred debit basis: the professional is paid immediately, and the policyholder’s account is debited only later.
Another insurtech, mySofie, is also active in this space. In July 2026, it opened its mySofie Pay solution, previously deployed with AG2R La Mondiale and CPMS, to the entire market. It is a virtual payment card co-branded with Visa, which removes the need to pay upfront and incorporates controls designed to limit fraud.
In this context, the combination of 3Pay and MoneyTrack brings together a payment solution and a platform connected to insurers within a single group.
