Cleansoft Services & Solutions, a specialist in maintaining operational conditions for data centers, has announced a new external growth transaction.
The group is acquiring GMI Databox’s business division dedicated to modular containment, a segment driven by the rapid expansion of data infrastructure and growing energy efficiency requirements.
The experts at AURIS Finance, an M&A and financial advisory firm, break down this market move.
Cleansoft continues to expand its offering in the data center market.
By acquiring GMI Databox’s supply and installation business for containment solutions, the group is integrating technical expertise that is essential to the proper functioning of data infrastructure. Within each data center, these solutions are installed at the heart of IT rooms to sustainably optimize energy performance.
Modular containment addresses what has become a critical challenge for operators: improving the thermal performance of infrastructure while controlling equipment energy consumption. At a time when computing needs are increasing and storage capacities are becoming denser, these solutions are gradually becoming essential.
As a result, modular containment has become a direct lever for reducing energy costs for operators.
A stronger position in the data center market
Cleansoft, a French company based in Aubagne, generates approximately €8 million in revenue and employs 60 people. It operates across the entire data center lifecycle: maintenance, raised flooring renovation, partitions, suspended ceilings, and air quality control.
Its clients include major players such as RATP Group, Eiffage, Engie, Dassault Aviation, and SNCF.
GMI Databox specializes in aisle containment solutions, complementary expertise that directly strengthens Cleansoft’s technical capabilities. This transaction enables the group to integrate high value-added expertise and respond more precisely to evolving client needs.
New synergies
With this acquisition, Cleansoft completes its offering and becomes a single point of contact capable of covering the entire physical environment of servers. The group now covers the full technical chain of IT rooms: micro-dusting, maintenance, fit-out work, air quality, and now modular containment, creating immediate operational synergies.
The transaction is also accompanied by a recruitment campaign targeting around ten technicians and experts. This acquisition forms part of an ambitious growth trajectory: more than 30% growth targeted in 2026 and revenue close to €30 million by 2030.
Energy efficiency at the heart of the market
The data center market in France and across Europe is currently being driven by a highly favorable combination of factors: the explosion of cloud usage and artificial intelligence, continuously rising storage and computing needs, and increasing pressure on energy efficiency. According to estimates from the International Energy Agency, electricity consumption from AI-related data centers is expected to triple by 2030.
In this context, every percentage point of energy efficiency gained matters.
Companies providing the technical building blocks of cooling infrastructure are directly benefiting from this pressure, particularly in critical infrastructure environments.
A targeted buy-and-build strategy
This transaction illustrates a focused external growth strategy: integrating complementary expertise to broaden the company’s offering, strengthen its market positioning, and accelerate its scale-up.
This trend is visible across many technical sectors, where specialized SMEs operating in high-growth markets are reaching critical size through successive acquisitions that generate synergies.
For business leaders, the challenges remain significant: identifying the right targets, securing financing, and successfully managing post-acquisition integration.
