Strategic growth for SPIE: Artemys joins Europe’s leading multi-technical services provider

SPIE strengthens its growth strategy by acquiring Artemys, a French specialist in information systems transformation and digital services.

The European leader in multitechnical services for the energy and communications sectors continues its development by acquiring a new player. SPIE has taken control of Artemys, a French specialist in information systems transformation. The experts at AURIS Finance, a mergers and acquisitions advisory firm, analyse this transaction.

A strategic acquisition

SPIE has signed an agreement to acquire 93% of the share capital of Artemys, a French company specialising in the design, management and transformation of information systems. This transaction enables SPIE to integrate 420 employees across seven offices, with revenue of €82 million in 2024.

Strengthening digital activities

Artemys’ activities will be integrated into SPIE ICS France, the group’s subsidiary dedicated to digital services, which already employs 3,300 people and operates 60 sites across France. This acquisition strengthens SPIE’s portfolio, which already reported €9.9 billion in revenue in 2024 and employs 55,000 people, while further consolidating its expertise in digital workplace solutions, infrastructure and cloud, cybersecurity, data and AI.

A history marked by diversification

Founded in 1900 by Belgian industrialist Édouard Empain, SPIE initially specialised in concession-based infrastructure projects. Following the spin-off of SPIE Batignolles in 2006, the group refocused its strategy on the energy transition and digital markets, notably through targeted acquisitions.

Accelerating digital growth

In 2024, SPIE completed eight acquisitions, representing a total of €457 million in annualised production, mainly in Germany, in telecommunications and renewable energies. Artemys fits squarely into this dynamic, strengthening the group’s capabilities in high-growth segments such as cloud, cybersecurity and data.

A changing market

The French digital market, estimated at €71.2 billion in 2025, is evolving at two speeds: software and cloud are growing by nearly 8%, while traditional services are stagnating. Mid-sized players such as Artemys are becoming prime targets for large groups seeking to consolidate their positions.
