The private equity firm Seven2 has just acquired a majority stake in Illuin Technology, a French provider of data and AI services. AURIS Finance, a mergers and acquisitions advisory firm, provides an in-depth analysis.

As of December 18, Seven2 (formerly Apax Partners) announced a majority investment in Illuin Technology. The French private equity firm is positioning itself as a specialist in artificial intelligence with a €25 million investment through its Apax Development Fund II. Robert Vesoul, CEO and co-founder of Illuin, retains a significant stake in the company, while the management team also strengthens its capital position.

Comprehensive offering

Founded in 2017 within the academic ecosystem of CentraleSupélec and Paris-Saclay, Illuin Technology has quickly established itself as a leading player in implementing AI solutions for large organizations. The company’s offering stands out for its comprehensive approach, combining consulting, software, and tailored services. Its solutions are diverse – both standardized and custom-built – to meet client needs, covering business process automation, complex data analysis, and customer experience enhancement.

Ease of use

Illuin Technology deploys a proprietary software suite, including chatbots and callbots, document analysis systems, intelligent search engines, and voice recognition tools, all powered by leading AI models: OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral, Gemini, and Qwen. These are hosted on a cloud-agnostic infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP, OVH, etc.) and natively integrated with major B2B applications (M365, Salesforce, WhatsApp, etc.). Illuin also distinguishes itself with its proprietary low-code platform, nAIxt, which enables sovereign and flexible orchestration of various AI models.

Strong growth

The company boasts over 85 major clients in banking, insurance, energy, logistics, and telecommunications, including Geopost, Randstad, Macif, EDF, MAIF, and Bouygues Telecom. In 2024, Illuin Technology, which employs 120 experts in data science, data engineering, and software development, reported revenue of €10.1 million. In 2025, the company achieved robust growth, with revenue reaching €13.2 million, driven in part by a fourfold increase in contracts for its software suite.

Acceleration ahead

Illuin Technology is now under the wing of Seven2, a private equity firm specializing in financing high-growth SMEs and mid-sized companies. Beyond capital investment, Seven2 acts as a strategic and operational partner for the companies it supports. Through its Apax Development Fund II, Seven2 is committed to long-term investments in tech companies specializing in artificial intelligence. The investor aims to support Illuin’s development amid accelerating demand. The private equity fund’s involvement is expected to enhance Illuin’s technical and commercial capabilities, broaden its sector expertise, and solidify its position as a leading partner in enterprise transformation. To achieve this, Seven2 does not rule out targeted acquisitions to strengthen Illuin’s offerings in France and Europe.
