Althios, a specialist in IT and network security, has just completed the acquisition of NCPI, a specialist in payment solutions for bricks and mortar stores. The experts at AURIS Finance, a consultancy specialising in mergers and acquisitions, take a closer look at this latest market move.
Since the late 1990s, NCPI has supplied complete point-of-sale (POS) solutions, including touchscreen tills, business software, printers, and local support services. Based in Saint-Gély-du-Fesc in the north-east of the Hérault region, the group prides itself on the reliability of its equipment, with a malfunction rate of less than 0.5%. Over the years, the company has extensively modernised and digitised its equipment to meet retailers’ regulatory requirements. NCPI has nearly a thousand customers, including independents, franchises and regional networks, and is a family-run group with fewer than twenty employees.
Faster growth
NCPI is joining Althios, a group with a unique model based on the collaboration of four entities that specialise in modernising and securing professional digital environments. The group was founded by Cesio, an IT infrastructure and maintenance specialist. It subsequently integrated a succession of expert companies. In 2019, it acquired Althae Solutions, a company that markets business software for sectors such as construction, notaries, mechanics and commerce, and offers Qualiopi-certified professional training. In 2024, While Informatique joined the group. This company specialises in designing and developing bespoke software and ERP systems. The acquisition of NCPI completes this network of solutions.
Digitalisation in the service of SMEs
Thanks to its four areas of expertise, the group can serve its customers — SMEs and franchise networks — with a comprehensive, modular approach ranging from consultancy to technical support and training. The group favours regional proximity and targets small and medium-sized companies in the process of digitisation, providing them with customised business software solutions. One of the group’s key strengths lies in its ability to provide robust customer service support throughout the implementation process.
New payment technologies
Through this acquisition, Althios is strengthening its position in the rapidly evolving digital payment and collection solutions market. The sector has undergone profound change in recent years, driven by new regulatory requirements and the emergence of new digital tools. The deployment of artificial intelligence means that payment terminals are becoming smarter and more connected. They can provide real-time sales analysis, offer predictive dashboards, and support sales by integrating loyalty programmes more deeply.
Our experts at your service
In the race to digitise and innovate, SMEs are often overlooked. Althios’ presence addresses a sizeable market looking for long-term solutions and support. Integrating small specialist companies into a single model enables the deployment of a comprehensive, modular offering. The market for digitisation solutions for SMEs in France is currently experiencing significant growth. According to the France Num 2024 barometer, 85% of SME managers believe digital technology to be a valuable asset for their business. Over the next few months, more mergers could be on the horizon. AURIS Finance’s experts are sector specialists. We will support you throughout your inorganic growth strategy, disposal or search for financing.
