Samsic, a Breton group that specialises in business services such as facility management and human resources, is actively pursuing its European expansion. The group has just acquired Capital Cleaning Group, a Dutch cleaning services provider. AURIS Finance’s experts analyse this new market move.
Over the years, Samsic has grown to become a giant in the business services sector. Headquartered in Rennes, the group employs 136,000 people and has an annual turnover of €4.2 billion. Founded in 1986 as a family-run medium-sized company, Samsic has built its business on two pillars: helping companies manage their human resources and their working environment (facility management). Its facilities division alone employs 90,000 people and covers the maintenance of green spaces, security, multi-technical maintenance, cleaning, and reception services.
“Ultra-clean” environments
By acquiring Capital Cleaning Group (CCG), Samsic is taking over a company with 2,000 employees and an annual turnover of €65 million. Although a small player compared to Samsic, CCG is highly strategic for the Breton group. CCG, which operates on a B2B basis, specialises in the ‘ultra-clean’ sector, i.e. disinfection and decontamination. By integrating Samsic’s Facility branch, CCG will strengthen its expertise in sensitive environments and expand its portfolio of specialised services.
International development
This acquisition is one of many operations carried out by Samsic in recent months. In less than three years, the group has tripled its revenues through an inorganic growth strategy involving eight acquisitions in France and overseas. Samsic now has a presence in 27 countries, including Canada, Morocco, Ireland, Germany and the United States. At the beginning of 2025, Samsic completed the acquisition of Ailesbury Services, an Irish cleaning specialist, enabling it to cover the entire Irish market, particularly Northern Ireland. Currently, Samsic generates most of its turnover in France (63%), but it intends to increase its European presence.
A family-owned SME
Now a major international provider of business services, Samsic has grown through a combination of acquisitions and organic development, all the while retaining its unique character. Founded in the 1980s by Christian Roulleau, the group remains in the hands of its founder, who is committed to maintaining its family character and financial independence. He has always refused to sell the company. However, he did pass the torch to his son-in-law, who had assisted him in the business for over two decades. The Rouleau family office now owns 100% of the Samsic Group, which is positioning itself in sectors such as vineyards and thalassotherapy.
