The French group specialising in business services is stepping up its presence in Germany. Samsic is taking over Service Concept and becoming a major player on the German market. Here is an analysis by the experts at AURIS Finance, a consultancy firm specialising in mergers and acquisitions.
Samsic Group was established in Brittany in 1986 by Christian Roulleau and has grown into an international company serving businesses. Its development has been driven by organic growth and acquisitions, which have enabled it to enhance its offering from cleaning to high-added-value services. Samsic Group is now present in 27 countries, employs 125,000 people, and has a turnover of €3.65 billion.
From industrial cleaning to multi-service
The group initially specialised in industrial cleaning services for companies but subsequently expanded into the temporary employment sector with the opening of its first agency in Rennes in 1992. In 2001, Samsic launched an industrial safety offering. Three years later, the Breton group made its first international acquisition with the purchase of Cleaning Masters in Belgium. Samsic is now structured around three business divisions: Samsic Facility, Samsic RH, and Samsic Airport. These complementary services enable the company to support businesses with a wide range of solutions, including reception, cleaning, security, maintenance and landscaping management. Samsic is now the European leader in integrated services for companies. In France, the group is in a strong position, ranking as the second largest operator in the industrial cleaning market, the seventh largest in security and the eighth largest in employment.
Consolidation in Germany
The acquisition of Service Concept represents a significant step forward for Samsic in its development in the German market. The company is taking over a specialist in global building management solutions with approximately thirty years of operational history. Headquartered in Berlin, Service Concept has a nationwide presence in Germany with 12 locations and a total of 600 employees. This is not the first time that the Samsic Group has expanded into Germany. The group has been present in Germany since 2017, initially establishing itself in the temporary employment sector. In 2019, the Group reinforced its market position with the acquisition of Epex. The acquisition of Service Concept will enable Samsic to gain new skills. In addition to providing multi-technical services, the French group is now targeting the global building management solutions market, including energy optimisation, intelligent supervision via data collection and analysis, regulatory compliance and improving occupant comfort.
European growth
The European cleaning market is valued at €120 billion. The industrial cleaning market is experiencing particularly strong growth, with an annual increase of 8%. Germany is a particularly noteworthy market, with a quarter of the total workforce and a turnover contribution of 70% to the sector, placing it among the top five countries (alongside France, the UK, Spain and Italy) in terms of market performance.
