Géotec acquires soil remediation specialist Envisol

Dépollution des sols

Géotec, a geotechnical and environmental engineering firm, has just announced the acquisition of Envisol, an Isère-based company specialising in contaminated sites and soils (CSS). Here are some insights from the experts at AURIS Finance, an M&A consultancy.

Completed in February 2025, this transaction represents a new phase in the development of Géotec’s Environment business. Géotec was founded in Dijon almost fifty years ago and has since become a leading player in geotechnical and environmental engineering. The group operates in France, Belgium, Italy, Senegal, Guinea and Ivory Coast. The company currently employs 900 professionals, including 310 engineers, and specialises in four key areas: geotechnical studies, environmental diagnostics, risk management, and laboratory and field testing.

A comprehensive approach

With the acquisition of Envisol, Géotec is consolidating its position in the field of contaminated sites and soils. Envisol was founded in 2009 and is a recognised specialist in this area. The group, which provides services to local authorities and to large private groups operating in the industrial, transport and real estate sectors, generated a turnover of €8.1 million in 2024. The company is distinguished by its comprehensive approach to environmental risks, which is facilitated by its three divisions. The Contaminated Sites division specialises in the assessment of soil pollution. The Ecosystems division specialises in soil reconstruction, sediment recovery and the renaturation of former industrial sites, supporting urban development projects. The Innovation division brings together specialists in digital geology and artificial intelligence.

Aggressive inorganic growth

The integration of Envisol enhances Géotec’s geographical coverage, enabling the company to operate more efficiently across France and internationally. A major player in the geotechnical engineering sector, Géotec has experienced significant growth in recent years. In 2024, the group posted a turnover of €104 million, representing a 65% increase over the previous five-year period. This growth was driven by both organic and inorganic expansion strategies. In 2023, it acquired Atemac, a specialist in the road sector specialising in pavement coring, enabling it to add a new skill to its offering. One year later, Géotec completed a double acquisition in the Nice region. The acquisition of SEFAB, which has around 15 employees and generates revenue of €2.5 million, strengthened its position in the fields of geotechnical engineering and reinforced concrete. Géotec has also acquired Géo Ingénierie, a company specialising in natural risk assessment and structural diagnostics. The group is thus committed to a sustained development strategy, with one or two inorganic growth operations per year.
