Ingérop completes its acquisition of Evectra

Voiture électrique

Ingérop, the engineering and consultancy group, has recently completed the acquisition of the Spanish company Evectra. This strategic move will allow the French company to expand its capabilities in electric mobility engineering while strengthening its presence in the Iberian market. AURIS Finance, a consultancy specialising in mergers and acquisitions, offers some insights into this transaction.

Evectra is now a subsidiary of Ingérop. The Spanish engineering company, headquartered in Barcelona and established in 2012, specialises in transport and energy engineering. Over the years, the group has developed a leading position in the field of sustainable mobility. Evectra now employs 45 people and has projects in Spain and Latin America. Its client base includes public sector organisations such as the Metropolitan Council of Barcelona and the Community of Madrid, as well as leading corporate entities such as Tesla, Amazon, Total Energies and Shell. Evectra provides comprehensive assistance to its customers in the installation of electric charging stations. It considers various parameters and constraints, such as the power capacity of the electricity networks, availability of land, and environmental compliance, and offers guidance on the submission of building permits and the search for service providers to carry out the work.

A highly strategic acquisition

The acquisition of Evectra allows Ingérop to strengthen its position in the market by gaining access to a niche player offering expertise ranging from feasibility, investment and financing studies to organisational and operational transformation studies. The acquisition of Evectra increases Ingérop’s total workforce in Spain to 200. The opening of a new branch in Valencia will enable the group to complete its coverage of the Spanish territory, while establishing a leading position in the electric mobility sector. Ingérop is thus acquiring additional technical expertise in the design of recharging infrastructure for electric vehicles. Since 2015, there has been a sixfold increase in the number of electric charging points across the European network.  Spain is one of the most advanced countries in this field, with almost 15,000 operational stations. In the coming months, the installation of charging points is set to increase significantly in Europe, driven by regulatory requirements. By 2025, fast-charging stations (minimum 150 kW) will have to be installed every 60 km along the EU’s trans-European network.

Assertive inorganic growth

In France, Ingérop is a leading player in the infrastructure, transport and energy engineering sectors, with over 3,000 employees and an international presence. In 2024, the company expects to generate total revenues of €370 million, a third of which will be generated outside France. The company is currently engaged in a number of significant projects, including the development of the Paris metro and the refurbishment and construction of high-speed rail infrastructure. In the space of two years, Ingérop has completed around ten acquisitions. In 2023 alone, the group acquired the safety and security engineering activities of the Risk and Co group, the Atelier des Territoires design office, and SGI Suisse, a multidisciplinary engineering group.
