Cisteo Medical, a French specialist in active medical implants, has joined the industrial group Agôn Electronics. This move marks a decisive new step for the future of the Doubs-based SME. Experts from AURIS Finance, a mergers and acquisitions advisory firm, analyze this latest market development in the highly dynamic MedTech sector.
The transaction was signed on November 13, 2024. Cisteo Medical has sold 100% of its shares to Agôn Electronics, with the deal expected to be finalized by the end of 2025.
A high-growth SME
Founded in 2010 in the Besançon microtechnology hub, Cisteo Medical is a leading player in the design, manufacturing, and certification of complex medical devices, including active implants. The company specializes in high-value, sensitive products such as neurostimulators, pacemakers, medical electrodes, and reconstruction devices.
Industrial partnership
The alliance with Agôn Electronics enables Cisteo Medical to approach its development with greater confidence. The MedTech company needed a robust partner to support its industrial expansion amid intense international competition and increasingly stringent regulatory standards. Agôn Electronics, a French electronics company headquartered in Haute-Garonne, has structured itself to serve the healthcare sector through its subsidiary, Tronico. With Cisteo Medical’s expertise in active implants, Agôn can now offer customers a comprehensive service, combining advanced electronics, medical know-how, and production capacity.
A new chapter
Without a strong partner, Cisteo Medical might have struggled to sustain its growth. The SME, which employs 60 people, reported revenues of €5 million for 2025, a significant increase. It now joins a group with 1,450 employees and seven subsidiaries. For Agôn, acquiring Cisteo strengthens its position in the MedTech sector and paves the way for a complete offering, from design to production. The group aims to achieve consolidated revenue of €215 million for 2025. According to Christophe Moureaux, former CEO of Cisteo Medical – who is joining Agôn and its subsidiary Tronico – this merger will make the group “the number one in active implants in Europe.”
A dynamic sector
The medical device sector remains one of the most promising segments in global healthcare. Currently valued at $681.57 billion, the medical device market is projected to reach $955.49 billion by 2030, representing an annual growth rate of 6.99%. Several factors drive this growth: on the patient side, the rising prevalence of chronic diseases and an aging population fuel demand, while on the innovation front, the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence is delivering real efficiency gains, enabling the deployment of new solutions.
French Tech stands out
In an uncertain global context, 2025 has been a mixed year for corporate financing. However, French Tech companies – particularly MedTechs – continue to excel. Just weeks ago, CardiaMetrics successfully raised over €2 million to fund its remote monitoring implant for heart failure.
